This summer, get ready to learn, play, and grow with Kong Academy’s Parkour Adventure Camp at Carkeek Park and Seward Park!
At Carkeek, our theme this year is NINJAS, with cultural advice and learning informed from the Japanese Cultural Center and the International Ninja Research Center.
At Seward Park, our theme this year is PIRATES! Inspired by legendary sea tales, our Pirate-themed camps offer an exciting new world for your child of exploration and discovery.
All camps are run by trained and experienced Kong Academy staff who are ready to guide your child through a week of outdoor fun, movement, and new experiences. And, like all Kong Academy programs, our summer camps are based on developing social and emotional skills.
Every day focuses on different aspects such as team building, communication, managing emotions, and making responsible decisions. It’s our goal for kids to come together, play together, grow together, and build important life skills in a fun and relevant way.
Every Friday at 2:30pm Curt Jordan, the founder of Kong Academy, offers a FREE parenting session on how to strengthen your kids’ skills in managing emotions, communicating, making responsible decisions, and being a helper. You’re invited to join when Curt shares tools to support your child’s social and emotional development.

My kiddo really enjoyed the Kong Academy summer camp.
I really like their integration of SEL concepts along with parkour activities. We have enjoyed and plan to participate in their school year programs as well.

My seven year old son has enjoyed both after school classes and a week of summer camp.
For a kid who does not love organized sports, this has been such a fun way to participate in a group that is focused on challenging yourself via outdoor play. “Try, try again” is the name of the game with a side of “cheer on your neighbor”.

Seriously, Kong academy did it again...such a good camp!
My child had a hard time the first day getting into it, like always with new things and I just kept saying, "don't worry, it will all come together." Sure enough, he had a blast and performed in the talent show, not like him...Kong academy helped him discover his talents and be confident. We love you all!

I sent my daughter to summer camp with Kong academy and was blown away by their well-rounded curriculum.
The entire week revolved around an imaginative, epic story that focused on emphasizing collaboration and social and emotional skills. I assumed they’d basically have the kids run around all day (which they did!) but there was so much more to each day. My daughter came home tired but happy and full of details about what they did. It was a huge hit. Part of me doesn’t want to share how great this camp because it just means more competition for spots next year but everyone should know what a great job they do.

After experiencing numerous camps this summer I felt it was the most professional.
The instructors were trained to work with kids and there was a specific plan for each day. I also liked that the parkour “equipment” was often tree roots, logs, and rocks. Might as well take advantage of the outdoors if you’re going to be in Carkeek. Thanks Kong Academy!

I’ve been so impressed with Kong Academy! My child was in a variety of summer camps in 2022 and Kong Academy was the one he talked about most; I should’ve signed up for more than one session!
Summer camp not only kept him physically active but completely captivated his imagination with the overarching fantasy storyline they used. We did a one-day camp recently during the public school day off, and again he had a blast. The teachers seem to have the kids’ admiration and respect , and the classes are as much about social-emotional growth as they are about movement and fun. It’s a little pricier than I’d like, but worth it compared to other programs.

The 4th grader in our household is loving the parkour classes she is taking every week. After her week at the summer camp, I signed her up for a weekly class for the entire school year.
She just told me the other day "I love my Parkour class!" I would highly recommend Kong Academy classes.

My 8 yo daughter loved this camp - she had a blast and also noticed that the social emotional lessons were quite astutely embedded in the games.
They wanted us to learn these things and it worked!" She came back happy and excited for the next day, every day!

I sent my almost 8-year old kid to parkour camp for the first time this summer. She's pretty apprehensive about new things so I was a little nervous that she'd let that get the best of her and not have a good time. I picked her up from camp on the first day and she was thrilled.
She'd had SO MUCH FUN! All week long, she had a great time and had so much to say when we picked her up. She was sad on the last day and told me she wished I'd signed her up for more weeks. Thank you, Kong Academy!

We took classes and went to the summer camp and had a great experience at both! It’s clear that the instructors care and love the kids.
They not only teach cool tricks but there’s also emotional learning like community and growth mindset. We definitely recommend this for any kid wanting to gain more confidence and physical agility.

Summer Camp FAQs
Most days will start with warm-up games to get the kids moving, warming up and building relationships with other campers. Depending on the week, the weather and the location, the kids will go through several stations (or quests) every day and work towards a daily and a weekly goal.
All quests offer kids an opportunity to develop their social and emotional skills like showing respect, improving communication skills, working as a team and a lot more.
There are no scheduled activites for extended care. Campers will play games, draw, color, talk about the day, and rest. You can pick up your camper at any time before 4:30pm.
All the parks we have chosen for our summer camps have sheltered areas for both shade and adverse weather conditions. Our coaches are very familiar with the different parks and will make sure the kids are not exposed to any extreme weather or travel too far from readily available sources of water.
The Kong Academy teaching method is based on the five pillars of Social Emotional Learning (self-awareness, self-control, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making). At our summer camps, we teach a large range of skills (including functional strength and fitness, balance, spatial awareness, agility, coordination, precision, control, and creative vision).
We include movements that offer a fun and challenging activity for every child, every ability, and every skill level.
The SEL structure gives us the tool to make sure every child feels included, gives their best effort, and leaves the camp every day with a feeling of achievement.
We scale and progress the challenges and quests based on the students’ level and encourage the kids to give their best effort.
Our teaching philosophy is that effort is more important than ability.
Please make sure your child brings lunch, a snack, and a large water bottle. When you register, please make sure to fill out the section regarding allergies, food or otherwise, their level of risk, and a standard protocol to follow in the event of exposure.
Every coach has a first aid kit and is trained in basic first aid. Should there be an injury or any kind of emergency, we have an emergency procedure that every coach is trained on and has a copy of to make sure appropriate steps are taken immediately.
In case of an injury, the people listed as emergency contacts will be contacted (either via phone call or text) as quickly as possible.
Kids should come to camp with sunscreen on and bring a sunscreen spray for later. Should your child need help with their spray sunscreen, our coaches will assist. (Spray sunscreen is preferable for easy and quick application.)
Students should be dressed in weather-appropriate clothing and ready to move. Comfortable clothes and athletic shoes are preferred.
Please provide a change of clothes in your kids backpack. It’s always a good idea to have one!
We will be rotating through different sections of the park and students will either keep their backpacks with them or leave them at homebase.
Full payment is required at registration.
In case you need to cancel your camp registration, you can move to one of our other summer camp weeks, provided there is space available up to 2 weeks prior to the camp start date of the one you’re enrolled in. If we have a waitlist and find a replacement (or you find a replacement), we are happy to send you a refund minus an administration fee of $50 per child and per camp until June 1st (e.g., if you have two kids registered for two camps, the admin fee will be $100).
After June 1, no refunds will be given.
If there are any medical reasons why your child cannot start or has to discontinue our program, please contact us, and a CREDIT – minus attended days and an administration fee of $50 – for a future program may be given (NOT a refund) . Every decision will be made on a case-by-case basis. For a potential credit based on a medical reason, we need to receive a doctor’s note.
Like for our Summer Camp 2023, we will set up 10 WhatsApp groups. Through an invite link, which we will share via email, registered parents can opt to join the WhatsApp group designated for the week they’re enrolled in.
From there, parents can reach out to other parents and organize carpools or play dates prior (or after) the camp.
There will be a friend request form. However, we cannot guarantee that every request will be accommodated.
We organize groups based on different factors (e.g., age), and we’ll do our best. There will be a limit of 3 maximum friends requests per child.
In the event of poor air quality (AQI above 100), we will have an indoor location available, which will be announced ahead of time via email, text message, and in the WhatsApp group.
